  • Empowering people to create

  • Increasing the Vibrancy of Shared Public Spaces

  • Building connection between people and place

People Place Public Art CIC is a non-profit organisation founded for the benefit of communities. Specialising in artwork with public engagement, we undertake commissions for public artworks and community murals as well as self-initiated projects in partnership with community groups. Our activities include:

  • Public consultation

  • Co-design

  • Co-creation

  • Celebration of new artworks

so that communities take an active role in projects and feel ownership of art in their area.

We can also lead commercial projects and create large scale artwork for private residences. When you choose us, you know that we have the wellbeing of people at the heart of everything we do, and any profits are reinvested in our work with community groups, so that everyone can benefit from participation in public art projects.

The project was funded by Royal Borough of Greenwich.

Exhibition of Artwork from the Abbey Wood Nurturing Community Mural Project

The artwork of project participants in this community mural project will be on display at Abbey Wood Library and Abbey Wood Community Centre until 30 April 2026.

Ellen paints lettering for Woolwich based charity, WSUP, as part of a CPD course of funded by Arts Council England

Ellen was awarded a Developing Your Creative Practice grant by Arts Council England for her ‘Upskilling as a Mural Artist’ project spanning two years of professional development activity. Following sign writing training with Joby Carter to develop her skills in designing and hand-painting lettering murals, Ellen needed a case study lettering project and Woolwich based charity WSUP stepped up. They chose the word ‘Kindness’ to be painted in gently flowing lettering over their serving hatch. The colour scheme of soft greens coordinates with their interior design scheme which was chosen to promote calmness and well-being.

WSUP offers real practical support to those who need it most. Their drop in is a safe place where guests can come and get hot food, do laundry, get a hair cut, use the shower, use the clothing bank, grab a book to read or take part in wellbeing activities.
